Our current release of Mossquito 2009 introduces two important and useful new features. The first of these is support for custom field types. This means that types you have created to fill your unique SharePoint needs are now available in Mossquito in the same way as native SharePoint types. This support includes not only a view of the field type definition behind your custom type but the ability to edit properties of your types in the familiar setup and property grids provided by Mossquito.
The second feature is a series of grids which we are calling refactoring matrices. These extend our current selection of usage matrices by allowing you to edit properties of related content types, site columns, fields and field links in a single view. In each grid properties are displayed, and may be edited, in a view which shows not only the relationships amongst these objects but how they are used in your site's lists where they matter most. These new tools can be accessed under the Refactor menu item in the main ribbon.
Combining a clear, visual picture of your site's objects with the ability to modify their usage and properties will remove much of the confusion involved in managing your SharePoint sites. Keep watching these blog postings for more detail on these features.
