Using the Content Types and Properties Refactoring Tool in Mossquito 2009

Content types are a valuable resource for grouping related fields together and using these field groups in your lists. SharePoint adds flexibility to your use of content types by allowing you to specify either custom controls (.ascx files) or custom pages (.aspx files) to use when adding, editing or displaying the fields in a content type. But what if you had a fairly large number of lists using a particular content type and wanted to assign different forms for add, edit and display according to the list. Wouldn't it be great if you could assign the appropriate form to each list in a single view and deploy these settings to each of your sites in a matter of minutes? This is where Mossquito 2009's new Content Types and Properties refactoring tool can help. Read more to see this tool in action.
Editing field properties with new site column and field refactoring tool in Mossquito

Tracking the usages of site columns in lists and locating unintended or incorrect property settings can be a real problem. The more complex the site collection, the more elusive and difficult these incorrect settings can be. With the new site column and field refactoring tool in Mossquito 2009, however, a clear view into all the usages of any site column is now available along with the capability to edit its property values at the level of the site column and at the level of each list. Read the full post for more details and to see this tool in action.
Current release of Mossquito 2009 introduces custom field type support and new refactoring tools

Our current release of Mossquito 2009 introduces two important and useful new features. The first of these is support for custom field types. This means that types you have created to fill your unique SharePoint needs are now available in Mossquito in the same way as native SharePoint types.
The second feature is a series of grids which we are calling refactoring matrices. These extend our current selection of usage matrices by allowing you to edit properties of related content types, site columns, fields and field links in a single view.
Combining a clear, visual picture of your site's objects with the ability to modify their usage and properties will remove much of the confusion involved in managing your SharePoint sites. Keep watching these blog postings for more detail on these features.
