Mossquito 2009

Features

Mossquito 2009 is packed with many thrilling features and opens up a whole new set of possibilities to advance your SharePoint development, deployment and management  experience!

MOSSQUITO FEATURE Express Edition Professional Edition
Web site data model support
A web site data model containing assets like site columns, lists, and content types is at the heart of each SharePoint web site. Mossquito offers you a new level of experience in designing and re-using web site data models. Now you can work in an easy-to-use GUI and achieve common tasks much faster and with confidence.
Work with web site data models: site columns, content types, lists, fields, views and more
Connect to existing SharePoint web sites and import their data models to Mossquito. Then edit, create, or delete SharePoint objects, and deploy the changes back — or create a new web site. Coming soon: Auto-generate diagrams for the newly imported web site as an option.

Mossquito provides an intuitive wizard that let's you create both new site collections or sub-web sites in existing site collections. Coming soon: Create and deploy in one step.

Navigation data model support
Easily create, edit, or reorganize navigations for your web sites. Coming soon: Support for navigation data models of publishing sites.
Work with navigation data models: Quick Launch and Top Navigation Bar
Connect to existing SharePoint web sites and import their navigations to Mossquito. Then edit, create, or delete navigation nodes, and deploy the changes back — or use on any other web site.

Make sure there are no dead links and that all your lists are accessible from a given navigation. Coming soon: Bind a default web site data model to a navigation data model for easier editing.
Validate navigations against web site data models
Mossquito keeps web site and navigation models apart. Thus you are free to combine them — make different navigations and apply them to web sites with a push of a button. Or use a single navigation with multiple slightly different web site data models.
Combine navigation and web site data models freely
Code generation
DAO (Data Access Object) classes let you access data in SharePoint lists from C#, Visual Basic, or any other .NET language in an easy and type-safe way. No more untyped and error-prone myItem["Number of pages"]-like code!
Generate DAO classes for web site data models
With Mossquito's generated DAO classes you can work with list data using interfaces which correspond to your content types! Write re-usable business logic bound to interfaces instead of specific classes, and run it on data from multiple lists!
Use generated interfaces to represent content types
The generated code can be output either in C# or Visual Basic.
C# and Visual Basic support
Compare & Merge engine
You can compare either any two web site data models or navigation data models and quickly identify changes. You can even compare live SharePoint web sites without a prior import to Mossquito.

Mossquito lets you choose among several comparison modes that are suited for different situations and let. Beside the symmetric mode, the more specialized modes become handy especially when want to control the way of merging or deployment.

Remote SharePoint access
Mossquito works with the native .NET SharePoint object model API, avoiding the rather restrictive web services API. While this brings tremendous advantages to developers, to ensure remote connectivity to a SharePoint farm a Mossquito Server component needs to be installed on one of a farm's servers. Mossquito client can keep track of multiple SharePoint farms. Just provide the host name of the machine running Mossquito Server and you have a working connection to a SharePoint farm!

Free to work from a server as well as a desktop Windows box
You don't need to have a permanent online connection to your SharePoint farm. Most of the work can be done off-line. However, when deployment time comes, SharePoint connectivity is essential.
